das Brot

Plural: die Brote
English: Bread, livelihood

One of the dryest foods on planet earth, probably.

Example of use in sentence:
Du kaufst Brot. (You buy bread.)
Einige Brote sind süß. (Some breads are sweet.)

die Familie

Plural: die Familien
English: Family, kin

Probably the most important thing to most people.

Example of use in sentence:
Familie ist wichtig. (Family is important.)
Er hatte eine liebevolle familie. (He had a loving family.)

die Sprache

Plural: die Sprachen
English: Language, speech

Speech, sprache… kind of similar, but very different.

Example of use in sentence:
Ich mag Sprachen. (I like languages.)
Due spricht meine Sprache? (Do you speak my language?)

das Zimmer

Plural: die Zimmer
English: Room, accomodation

I need to clean my room, and liven it up a bit.

Example of use in sentence:
Tom dekoriere sein Zimmer. (Tom decorates his room.)
Sie vermietet das Zimmer an Studenten. (She rents the room to students.)

der Morgen

Plural: die Morgen
English: Morning, tomorrow

Morning and tomorrow having the same word is kind of nice. Biased against the night-owls though. What if my day starts at midnight?

Example of use in sentence:
Morgen ist Feiertag. (Tomorrow is a public holiday.)
Ich frühstücke jeden Morgen. (I eat breakfast every morning.)

der Abend

Plural: die Abende
English: Evening, night

Growing up in a hot climate, you come to adore the evening, and night.

Example of use in sentence:
Es war Abend. (It was evening.)
Ich warte auf den Abend. (I am waiting for the evening.)

das Handy

Plural: die Handys
English: Cell phone, mobile phone

That is an unfortunate spelling.

Example of use in sentence:
Ich repariere kaputte Handys. (I repair broken cell phones.)
Mein Handy funktioniert nicht. (My phone isn’t working.)

der Bahnhof

Plural: die Bahnhöfe
English: Train station, railway station

I used to love train stations, I think.

Example of use in sentence:
Bitte wartet am Bahnhof auf mich. (Please wait for me at the station.)
Der Bahnhof liegt im Westen des Hotels. (The train station is located to the west of the hotel.)

die Kleidung

Plural: die kleidungen
English: Clothing, apparel

I have terrible fashion sense.

Example of use in sentence:
Er kauft Kleidung. (He buys clothes.)
Tom wechselt jeden tag die Kleidung. (Tom changes clothes every day.)

das Wetter

Plural: die Wetter
English: Weather, air

Today’s weather is pretty good.

Example of use in sentence:
Das Wetter was ideal. (The weather was ideal.)
Morgen wird schönes Wetter. (The weather will be nice tomorrow.)
